Wood-based products and fuels are critical to meeting the future requirements for sustainability and climate control.
The forest industry will play an important role in this change. Held in May 2016 in Stockholmsmässan, Sweden, International Wood Biorefining Week (IWB Week) covers the entire wood-based biorefining industries in a versatile and comprehensive programme.
IWB Week is a meeting place for the forest industry and showcase the possibilities the industry can offer in order to meet the expectations regarding sustainability. Finland’s VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland showcases Nordic research and technology at the event, alongside conference partners such as the research institute Innventia, working with innovations based on the raw material of the forest.
The event includes presentations on markets for bio-based products, and the evolution of a sustainable and intelligent global bio-economy. The event programme covers advanced biofuels, biopower- and heat, nanocellulose, smart packaging, carbon fibres, building in wood, cellulosic textile and wood in food production.
The international exhibition at IWB Week features approximately 170 participating companies. The exhibition area has also been designed to allow IWB visitors to benefit from a non-commercial product exhibition for wood-based innovative materials. IWB is notable for the launch of Innventia’s third Global Outlook Report, entitled “A Cellulose-Based Society”.
