One-third of EMEA retailers not confident about information protection

In a recent survey conducted across major cities in Europe, IDC Retail Insights found that consumer adoption of social networking is a now a major source of risk for organisations. The survey revealed that only 46% of retailers surveyed have currently implemented technologies or put in place policies to deal with Web 2.0 interactions, including blogs or social networks. More insights are revealed in the report Information Security in the EMEA Retail Industry, which sheds light on the fundamental issues around core security initiatives within the retail industry across Europe.The report outlines recommendations that will help retail IT executives to maximise the benefits of their investments in information security and minimise the risk of security breaches and other events, while embracing opportunities such as cloud, social networking, and mobile devices.
